Stress activates neural systems that inhibit pain sensation. This adaptive response depends on neuronal pathways that project from the cortical neurons to the midbrain periaqueductal gray (PAG) and descend to the brainstem rostro-ventro-medial medulla and dorsal horn of the spinal cord and suppresses nociception (8,20). The CB1 receptor expression was detected in regions influencing a number of key functions, including mood, motor coordination, autonomic function, memory, sensation, cognition and stress. Electron microscopy studies demonstrated CB1 receptors predominantly on presynaptic terminals (11,15) but they were found also on postsynaptic structures and glia (3). They activate G-proteins that inhibit adenylate cyclase and calcium channels ABSTRACT

Opioidergic system and second messengers affected the nociceptive effects of Tyr-MIF-1’s after three models of stress
The Tyr-MIF-1 family of neuropeptides (Tyr-MIF-1’s) includes MIF-1, Tyr-MIF-1, Tyr-W-MIF-1 and Tyr-K-MIF-1. Nowadays it is certain that they can modulate pain and some forms of stress-induced analgesia (SIA) by antiopiate and μ-specific processes. The objectives of the present study were twofold: 1) to determine the involvement of opioid system in analgesia induced by immobilization, cold and h...
متن کاملThe effect of intracerebroventricular injection of CGRP on pain behavioral responses and monoamines concentrations in the periaqueductal gray area in rat
Objective(s): Calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) receptors are widely distributed in the central nervous system. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection of CGRP on pain behavioral responses and on levels of monoamines in the periaqueductal gray area (PAG) during the formalin test in rats.Materials and Methods: Twenty-four male rats wer...
متن کاملTyr-W-MIF-1 attenuates down-regulation of opiate receptors in SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells.
Down-regulation of opiate receptors is demonstrated more easily in vitro than in vivo. The possible role of endogenous opiate-modulating peptides in preventing such down-regulation was investigated by addition of Tyr-W-MIF-1 to an in vitro preparation, the human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y, in which down-regulation of opiate receptors has been demonstrated previously. Although both morphine...

متن کاملCapsazepine, a Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid Type 1 (TRPV1) Antagonist, Attenuates Antinociceptive Effect of CB1 Receptor agonist, WIN55,212-2, in the Rat Nucleus Cuneiformis
Introduction: Nucleus cuneiformis (NCF), as part of descending pain inhibitory system, cooperates with periaqueductal gray (PAG) and rostral ventromedial medulla (RVM) in supraspinal modulation of pain. Cannabinoids have analgesic effects in the PAG, RVM and NCF. The transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1(TRPV1) can be activated by anandamide and WIN55,212-2 as a cannabinoid receptor ago...
